Applicants in Hotel and Hospitality Management need to take an admission test in which verbal ability, English usage skills, numerical ability, reasoning ability and scientific aptitude are assessed. The hospitality sector has seen rapid growth in the past 20 years in India with the demand for trained manpower growing due to multi-nationals setting up trade in the country.
 
Career choices in the Hotel industry thus include positions for trained personnel in hotels, restaurants, airlines, health and fitness centers, spas etc.

Tourism Associations opportunities and the Catering Departments in banks, call centers and large companies, Govt. owned catering departments such as the railway, armed forces, ministerial conventions or in food, confectionery and the beverage production industries are other hot-job openings for Hotel Management graduates.
 
The National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology is a government undertaking that regulates courses in Hospitality Management through eleven different Professional Programs countrywide with 3 – 4 year diploma courses, while private institutes offer a 4-year Bachelor’s Program. With starting salaries of Rs.15,000-18,000 hotel managements graduates are a happy lot.
